About The Vein Book, 3rd Ed.

Our Vision

Published by Oxford University Press and co-edited by Dr. Neil Khilnani, Dr. Nisha Bunke, and Dr. BB Lee, we are honored to carry forward Dr. John Bergan’s legacy and his lifelong commitment to advancing the care of patients with venous and lymphatic disorders. With this third edition of The Vein Book, we aim to reimagine and modernize a comprehensive, clinically focused textbook dedicated to the full spectrum of vein and lymphatic disease.

The third edition of The Vein Book reaffirms our commitment to advancing the science, practice, and education of venous disease management. Featuring contributions from leading experts around the world, this edition integrates the latest research, clinical innovations, and evolving best practices in phlebology and vascular medicine. Our vision is to deliver a comprehensive, forward-looking resource that not only informs current practice but also inspires ongoing advancement in patient care, research, and professional development.re of patients with venous and lymphatic disorders.

Our goal is for this edition to serve as an essential resource for postgraduate trainees across multiple specialties, as well as a practical reference for physicians and medical professionals already engaged in the care of venous and lymphatic patients. The anticipated readership spans from students and future vascular specialists preparing for board examinations to seasoned clinicians seeking to refresh and expand their knowledge.

The table of contents has been thoughtfully reorganized and expanded to emphasize clinical presentations of venous disorders and to provide a deeper exploration of lymphatic diseases. We envision this edition as a valuable complement to other foundational texts, such as The Handbook of Venous and Lymphatic Disorders.

A key new feature of this edition is the inclusion of an online companion with review questions and answers—designed to support learners preparing for specialty board exams and to enhance the educational value of the textbook overall.
